#2 How The Deck Reads

Clusters, the settle, and ten patient rungs

The deck is six columns across and five rows deep, so thirty pieces sit in view at once. Five or more of the same piece touching along an edge, above, below or to either side, count as one cluster and clear together. Meeting at a corner is not touching. A diagonal never joins a cluster, which is what keeps a shape readable once the tethers are drawn across it.

A cleared cluster leaves a gap. Whatever rested above it comes down, fresh pieces arrive along the top row, and if the settled arrangement forms another cluster then it clears in turn with nothing further from you. A run of those is a chain.

Ten rungs, and the first two are flat

This deck climbs one, one, two, two, three, four, five, seven, nine, twelve. The opening rungs deliberately do nothing at all, which is unusual: a second clear is worth exactly what the first was. The reward for a run only starts arriving around the fifth or sixth rung, and reaching the tenth is a genuinely rare evening. It is the most patient ladder we have built, and it makes a long settle worth sitting through rather than a single lucky drop.

The panel, control by control

• Stake sets how many virtual credits each watch spends. The two buttons step through five fixed values and stop at either end.
• Dash compresses the animation for anyone who would rather not sit through the settle.
• Watch lays a fresh thirty across the deck.
• Session Net shows the distance between what has been staked and what has come back, for this browser tab and nothing wider.

All of it runs locally in your own browser. No outcome is requested from a server, none is reported back, and refreshing clears the lot.

What a social game is, put plainly

Boreal Deck publishes Free Social Games, which for us comes to a single page holding a single demo game. You arrive and you play. Nothing asks who you are. There is no account to open, no wallet to load, no feature held back and no later point at which a price appears. The pieces on the deck are counted in virtual credits, and virtual credits stop existing the moment the tab closes.

Saying that outright matters, because the form is borrowed. Cascading grids and climbing multipliers are the language of products built to move money, and that language brings assumptions with it. None of them hold here. Nothing on this page can win you money, cost you money, or become money afterwards by any route you might try.

The nearer comparison is a working model kept under glass. The mechanism runs honestly and repeats itself exactly, and the thing it models has been deliberately left out. The Polar Aurora set is drawn from the sort of instruments a northern watch deck would genuinely have kept in its locker, and the grid holds up to as much scrutiny as you care to give it.

What the counter is, and what it is not

Two thousand one hundred credits sit on the counter when the page opens. A watch spends some, a cluster returns some. That is the whole life of the number.

Virtual credits are not sold. This site carries no checkout, no cashier and no page that could accept a payment, and none is planned. They cannot be handed to another person, traded or moved between accounts, because accounts do not exist here and there is nobody to move them to. They cannot be withdrawn, converted or redeemed against cash, goods, vouchers, tokens or entry into anything at all.

They are never stored either. Nothing about a visit is written to your device or sent anywhere else. Reload the page and the counter reads two thousand one hundred again, which is the plainest evidence we can offer that it was never a balance.

Run it down to nothing and the game refills it unprompted. There is nothing here to lose and nothing to top up.

Self-exclusion, and the controls that do not depend on us

Sites in this area usually offer a self-exclusion setting that locks an account for a chosen period. We have none, for the plain reason that there is no account here to lock. What we can do instead is point you toward the controls that work whether or not a website cooperates, and those already sit on the device in front of you.

• Browser and network blocking. Every major browser supports extensions that block a list of sites, and most home routers and mobile operating systems carry the same ability built in. A block applied there survives any amount of cookie clearing.
• Parental and screen-time controls. Windows, macOS, iOS and Android all ship with content filters and time limits. These are the right tool when the concern is another member of the household rather than yourself.
• Dedicated blocking software. Tools such as GamBan and BetBlocker are built specifically to block gambling and gambling-adjacent sites across a device or an entire home network, and they cost little or nothing.

What we collect

Nothing that identifies you. There is no registration, no form and no input field anywhere on this site asking for personal information. We do not collect your name, email address, postal address, telephone number, date of birth or payment details, because nothing on the site would have any use for them.

Game data

Your stake, your credit counter and your session totals sit in your browser's memory for as long as the tab stays open. They are never transmitted to us and never written to your device. Closing or refreshing the page discards all of it.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies. It uses no local storage, no session storage and nothing comparable, and it loads no third-party scripts, fonts, analytics or advertising tags that could set one on our behalf. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to. Your browser may still keep its ordinary cache of the page files, which is outside our control and holds nothing about you.

Server logs

Our hosting provider records standard web server request logs, which can include an IP address, a timestamp and a browser user agent string. They exist to keep the site running and secure, are not tied to any identity, and are never used to build a profile or shared for advertising.

Your rights

Since we hold no personal information about you, there is generally nothing to access, correct or delete. If you believe otherwise, write to privacy@borealdeck.com and we will respond.

Eligibility and age

This site is intended for adults aged 18 and over. By using it you confirm that you meet that age requirement and that playing a free social game is lawful where you live.

Acceptable use

Use the site as it is presented. Do not interfere with it, probe it for vulnerabilities, script or automate play, reverse engineer it for republication, or use it in any way that misleads somebody about what it is. Do not present it to a person under 18.

Virtual credits and no cash value

Virtual credits are a display feature of a demo game. They are not money, not a deposit, not a stored balance and not property.
